Wonder of Wonders

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.” (Luke 1: 46)

We are so immersed in the familiarity of life that we tend to forget how miraculous ordinary existence really is. The first wonder of wonders is that we exist at all. The fact that we are distinct selves who can see and know and love is indeed a miracle. The human soul, the essential self, indicates a profound mystery at the very core of reality. Reality is not impersonal. We are not inert, unaware, or irrelevant; we are alive, aware, and in a dynamic relationship with all that is. Every soul proclaims the miracle of existence. This is the first wonder of wonders. Wow.
