Renunciation

“Unless we live what we know, we do not know it.” – Thomas Merton

Lord, what do all of my battles and endeavors mean? Values only matter when explicitly lived. Simplicity and kindness are the center where I find you. Work, projects, interests, issues, tasks, and demands mean little. Foam on the waves. Tumult on the surface of a profound stillness. We make war in us and around us over illusions. Distractions. I do not want ephemera; I want truth.

I have seen you, known you, and loved you, and now nothing else will suffice.
