A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”  (Mark 4:37,38)

Jesus was crazy with love for you

and I am crazy with love for you.

How many sunsets I have longingly gazed upon

seeking your heart,

you know.

Lord, the storms of life have taken me away

from the vast and quiet night sky

where I met you.

Help me find you again,

asleep in the stern of this small boat,

while the wind and the sea rage.

  1. Beautiful prayer. We do need His Peace to stay centered in the midst of the frustrations and confusion of so many people in the world who have lost their way. We need the Great Mystery of His unconditional love to find the silences that shelter and comfort us. We need to surrender to bear the vulnerability of being ever open to His Presence. Perhaps this is the “prayer without ceasing” we read in scripture, a posture of prayer, an alignment with the light, love as a way of life and our very breath.
