On the Sabbath

On the Sabbath, we touch heaven

and see beyond worry and woe.

On the Sabbath, we accept God’s grace

and drink from the eternal spring of life.

On the Sabbath, the earth is sacred

and it is Eden again.

On the Sabbath, time ceases

and each moment is eternal.

On the Sabbath, common bread and wine

become the cosmos and we are satisfied.

On the Sabbath, the communion of souls is present

and our loved ones are near.

On the Sabbath, the divine and the human become one

and all else matters not.
