Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them. – (Mark 9:2)

Transfiguration is a way of seeing; an awakening to what is already there. This life, reality itself, is radiant with truth. The truth is God’s love, which is everything. Life obscures it with fears and worries. We get caught up in illusions.

Peter, James, and John went “up a high mountain apart by themselves”, then they saw the divinity that had been with them all along. Perhaps that solitary place apart is prayer; perhaps it is tragedy and suffering; perhaps it is a moment of profound love. I hope to always find this place apart when I need it.

Prayer: Lord of Life, let the eyes of my heart see that you are here with me now, and you have been with me all along.
